Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree or higher from an accredited college or university in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or a related field.
Minimum of five (5) years successful experience in Public Relations, Communications, or Marketing Field or five (5) years of experience in print and/or electronic journalism.
Strong writing/editing and verbal communication skills and ability to communicate complex policies and practices to a diverse audience.
Knowledge of website content management, e-marketing, and social media.
Previous experience in graphic design producing publications such as fliers, newsletters, and reports.
Able to travel to schools in the district and be available outside traditional working hours to offer support for time-sensitive issues such as weather delays, crises, school committee meetings, etc.
Experience in an urban educational setting is strongly preferred.

Superintendent of Schools or designee JOB GOAL:
The Communications Coordinator will oversee aspects of all district-level internal and external communications to inform and engage families, staff, stakeholders, and the public on the District's policies and priorities and to ensure that its message is consistent and engaging.
The Coordinator will work closely with members of the Leadership Team, Directors, and Principals as the communications partner on a variety of strategic initiatives.
PERFORMANCE
Responsibilities:
Develop, implement, and evaluate an annual communications plan and associated communications procedures for the district.
Implement and strengthen a robust system for regular communications with families on how to navigate the school system, district policies and procedures, events, and opportunities for family and community involvement.
Seek and promote positive stories highlighting the accomplishment of the district, the staff, and the students.
Oversee digital and traditional marketing, including newsletters, social media, and other print and graphic content to engage current, former, and prospective families and other community members.
In partnership with the Technology Department, oversee content on the district's website for relevance and ease of use, and recommend necessary improvements.
Communicate the district's goals and priorities to various TPS stakeholders.
Manage district-wide emergency and crisis communications and collaborate with district administrators on best practices for building/department-based emergency communications.
Participate in crisis team meetings, proactive planning, and reflection to improve processes over time in coordination with the crisis team.
Provide updates on all district social media outreach platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Develop relationships with media contacts and respond to media requests.
Keep up to date and informed on all matters related to Taunton Public Schools and the greater Taunton Community.
Stays informed of developments in the field of marketing and communications within the industry to foster ideas and innovation.
Perform other related duties as requested by the Superintendent or designee.
TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:
The work year shall be a twelve (12) month work year.
EVALUATION:
Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the School Committee's policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
Primary Location District Salary Range Individual Contract Shift Type Full-Time.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
